Cultus Lake Day Parade – Saturday, 25 June, 2022

The Club was invited to join the Parade for the Cultus Lake Day. Larry Payeur, who lives at Cultus Lake, advised that Saturday, 25 June, is Cultus Lake Day and as part of the festivities, there would be a Parade in which FVBMC members and their cars would be most welcome to participate – the more the merrier….. The Parade line-up would be at 9:45am and has a 30-minute route. There are to be numerous activities throughout the day – the details could be seen on http://www.cultuslake.bc.ca Larry has advised that for participating members there would be special parking for those who wish to stay on after the Parade. There would also be a Pancake Breakfast from 8:30am by donation at the Fire Hall.

The forecast was for a sunny day and 28 deg, and it was right on – it was blue sky and sun with a light breeze and just on 30 deg. by mid-day. Several Club members came along for the breakfast and in all there were seven cars by line-up time. There were also a number of other cars, mostly American, and a motor cycle club along with some decorated floats. The Parade actually got under way at around 11:00 am. The route was south on Sunnyside Boulevard down to the Lake and then back up 1st. Avenue to Fir Street and on to the car park, so just on 1,600m and it took just on 45 minutes. The route was lined with spectators and care was needed with children and dogs dodging around. Progress was rather stop-and-go, due mainly it seemed, to a children’s train ride up front that kept turning in circles every so often. Engine temperatures were rising, and towards the end there were several stalls. It was a relief to get to the special parking, the more so since it was in the shade. All-in-all, it was a fun event and worth the effort.

There were several photographers and one, Kevin Plastow, was kind enough to send the photos shown below.
