As you all know, our Club organizes the annual Fraser Valley Classic Car Show which is essentially a fundraiser for the Chilliwack General Hospital and, for this purpose, moneys raised are handed on to the Fraser Valley Health Care Foundation.
This year a cheque for $19,265 was able to be handed over. Of this amount, $10,425 came from the very successful on-line raffle, the prize being a yellow 1962 MGB put into roadworthy condition and donated by Laurie Rae. There was also $640 from the silent auction of a 28-in dia. pine table with black walnut inlay made by John Webster. The Coast Hotel in Chilliwack had also contributed to the success of the Show with several vouchers for a dinner for two as door prizes and reduced room rates for out-of-town show attendees. They also assisted in the catering with a breakfast from a menu served on site.
On Tuesday, 9th July the Foundation invited the Club’s organizing committee to a Thank You lunch at the Coast Hotel in Chilliwack. This was attended by Bruce Webster as the Club’s Director at Large, Car Show and Mike McChesney who looked after Registration and Sign-in. The other three committee members being Laurie Rae, John Webster and Michael Hamilton-Clark were unable to attend.
The presentation cheque for $19,265 was duly handed over to the Foundation’s Executive Director, Liz Harris and Robert Beischer, Fund Development Coordinator.
