2023 Fun Run

As is the custom, this year’s Fun Run was set by last year’s winners, Larry and Mary-Jean Payeur.

The 66km route was an interesting mix of mostly Valley driving starting from McDonald Park with a bit of Chilliwack town  and Fairfield Island driving to finish in Yarrow at the McLures for a barbeque lunch – see Route Map.  Meet-up was 10:00am and by the 10:30am start there were 22 cars setting off with Larry checking them out at around 30 to 40 second intervals.

The Run took about 80 to 90 minutes. The directions were easy to follow and nobody got lost. The clues for things to be found were called up by street numbers or business names; some were a bit tricky. Most answers to the Brit-based questions had to be chosen from several shown possible ones. All-in, it was a good drive and good fun. The winners, with 23 points out of 27 total were Doug and Gerri Charles, with John and Jean Webster as runners-up with 22/27.

The barbeque lunch at Bill and Joanne McLure’s was enjoyed by one and all. Bill served up excellent burgers and wieners and there were buns and plenty of the makings. There was shade on the verandah along with a couple of gazebos in the yard and chairs aplenty. Most of the cars were able to be lined up in the back paddock.

So, a big Thank You to the Payeurs for having set a great 2023 Fun Run and to the McLures for hosting the barbeque.
